What is Make it CLEAR?
Make It CLEAR is The CLEAR Initiative’s education campaign to bring real, age-appropriate conversations about consent, sexual violence, and reporting into schools and youth spaces.
Our goal is to make these topics easier to understand — and safer to talk about. We focus on trauma-informed care and designing content that teaches without triggering, and informs without overwhelming. Every resource is reviewed by mental health professionals and survivors to ensure it supports healing, not harm.
A big part of this work is also about making SexEd better. Right now, too many young people are left confused, ashamed, or uninformed — especially about consent. We believe consent should be a central part of any conversation about sex, relationships, and safety — not just an afterthought.
We’re also working to change how adults respond when a young person comes forward. Reporting is important, but responding with empathy and clarity is just as critical. Our resources help both students and staff move beyond fear and into real, supportive action.

Our Why
In our youth-led survey, the majority of respondents shared that they were sexually assaulted as children — and didn’t realize it was assault until much later. They told us they didn’t have the words, the support, or the knowledge to understand what happened, let alone to get help.
Looking Forward
Here’s what’s next:
School Presentations: Launching youth-led workshops to make consent and survivor support make sense for real-life situations.
School Chapters: Supporting students to form CLEAR clubs or chapters that continue peer education and advocacy.
Train-the-Responder Toolkit: Helping adults and peers move from mandatory reporting to meaningful responding.
Resource Library: A growing hub of downloadable materials, videos, and guides tailored for students, parents, and staff.
