What you might be wondering about The CLEAR Initiative…
Organizational:
At what age can I get involved?
We have opportunities for people of any age! Our educational resources are specially designed for younger audiences and those who watch over young people. Our testimony network is a great opportunity for people of any age to testify! If you’d like to share your story, we ask that those under 18 get parental permission before sending their info in. To be an official volunteer or team member, we ask that you are at least 13 years of age.
Do I have to be in Colorado?
No. We are happy to help those outside of Colorado connect with bills and testimony resources so everyone can exercise their right to speak out on legislation. We also accept SA stories from anywhere in the world. If you want to volunteer but aren’t local, we can connect with you an online position!
What legal entity are you?
As of May 15th, 2025, The CLEAR Initiative is not a legal entity. We are currently in the process of receiving 501(c)3 status through a fiscal sponsorship. Until then, all donations go to a private startup account.
‘Speak Up’ Social Media Campaign
-
Yes! We always share your story anonymously and erase all identifying information. If you share your story through something else, like snapchat, we’ll blur your name, face, and avatar.
-
As much as you wish. The more you tell of the story, the more we are able to share with the world and we know people get invested in details. Never feel pressured to share more than you’re comfortable with. But keep in mind, all stories are anonymous.
-
If you feel like it was a sexual assault related story that you were impacted by, it’s worth telling. You could have been the person who was assaulted, someone who knew someone who was assaulted, or anyone else in the situation.
-
Any stories that cannot be told without identifying information, those which have not given explicit permission to be posted, or those that promote sexual assault will not be posted.
-
These stories will be shared on Instagram and Tiktok. They may also be used on the website for awareness or posted in a blog/newsletter. They may also be shared during testimony, which allow you to use your voice anonymously to make an impact on legislation.
‘Speak Out’ Legislative Testimony Network
-
When there’s a relevant bill, we will reach out via email with the name of the bill, date of testimony, summary of the bill, and any needed resources to write your testimony. If you need a ride to the capitol, we will pay for your Uber up to 30 miles away.
-
We only expect you to testify once or twice per legislative session. This testimony shouldn’t take too long to write, only about 2-3 minutes to speak, and can be done completely digitally. Although testifying doesn’t take long, it can make a huge impact.
-
Lobbying occurs when an organization directly supports/rejects a bill by speaking to representatives. At The CLEAR Initiative, we do not testify for or against bills. Rather, we offer context to representatives so they can make more informed decisions. When you testify, you are not representing The CLEAR Initiative. Instead, you are representing your own story and we serve as an avenue to present that story.
-
Everyone should sign up! You never know when a bill might be relevant to you, even if you know very little about SA. We believe that you are an expert in your own experience, and we want to hear your story.
‘Make it CLEAR’ Educational Campaign
-
Make it CLEAR is a broad educational initiative. It includes videos, brochures, stickers, printables, videos, newsletters, and social media posts.
-
Any resources that are used for minors or offer explicit advice will be first vetted by a professional in the field. More info about who that is and when it was created will be on each resource.
-
We’re always looking for support! If you’re a survivor or concerned community member, help us make social media posts and spread the word. If you’re certified in something related to SA, help us make printable resources we can distribute.
